Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium Grant Expenditure: Reporting to Parents
Context: From September 2012 school leaders and governing bodies need to ensure that their school is publishing information about how all Pupil Premium funding has been used and what the impact has been on learning and outcomes for 'disadvantaged' groups.
The Pupil Premium is allocated to improve educational outcomes for this group. However, it is not ring-fenced to these children (or any individual) and must be spent to ensure the school is able to demonstrate that it is improving the educational outcomes of this group or 'closing the gap' which exists nationally. .
School leaders and governing bodies need to ensure that their school is improving the educational outcomes of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding. It is for the school to determine how best to use the funding. At Castle this involves following research-based approaches as identified by the nationally recognised research by the Education Endowment Foundation (and adapting them for Castle Primary) - see attachment below.
Principles: At Castle Primary School:
- We ensure that improving the quality of teaching and learning to meet the needs of all of the pupils
- We ensure that appropriate provision is made for all pupils, with an additional focus on groups who can underachieve in their education
- In making provision for pupils identified as form 'disadvantaged' groups, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged
- We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to allocate parts of the Pupil Premium funding to support any groups of pupils the school has identified as being educationally disadvantaged
- Pupil premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify whole school priorities for improving teaching and learning, classes or groups. We will focus funding and resources so that all children (Including those receiving free school meals) will benefit
